    Which year are you in? http://www.ucheducationcentre.org/gazellions-slot-machine/ gazellions slot machine  I like 8.1 just fine, but that's because I've configured it so that I can actually forget that a touch UI is buried in there somewhere--I never see it and so don't suffer from it. Peel out the touch UI, and maybe add a couple of handy features in its place (like Win8's ability to automatically mount .iso's) and the company would have had the inverse of the results it's had, imo. Nothing's amiss for a touch UI used with a touch device or screen--the "amiss" part happens when a company tries to sell a touch UI to people who don't either need or want a touch device or screen. Why is this not common sense for Microsoft?
